Toyota Teams up to Develop AI System for Cars

Toyota has announced a partnership with artificial intelligence company Preferred Networks Inc (PFN) in a bid for the future automation and interactivity of their cars.  Their press release said:
“…[it will] foster the creation of a society in which mobility means safety and freedom.” In reference to the deal which is supposed to have been made for one billion yen and become effective starting December 30.

On January 5, the CEO and senior executives of Toyota Research Institute will hold a press conference to talk about the future of AI integration with its products and undoubtedly this partnership will be a large factor in that future.   It’s exciting and not too difficult to imagine a world where cars drive themselves and everyone is a passenger.  It’s the future of transportation and it’s coming a lot sooner than we probably imagine.
