A Replacement for the Mercedes-Benz SLK is Coming
Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will be replacing the current model SLK with new model. The current SLK will be replaced by the new SLC series and will also receive a new lineup of engines to match. The standard SLC 300 will come equipped with a turbocharged 2-liter inline four cylinder, producing 241 horsepower and 273 foot pounds of torque which should be enough to get a respectable 0-60 from the little roadster. Unfortunately, the AMG model is also going to be getting a new engine. Gone are the days of the snarling SLK55 AMG V8 which is going to be replaced by a more efficient SLC43 AMG twin-turbo V6 producing 362 horsepower and 383 foot pounds of torque and will be mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. It’s an increase of 14 torque but a decrease 54 horsepower. Regardless, that’s enough to get a 0-60 time in around 4.7 seconds and boast a top speed of 155 mph which is a very respectable. Having been a big fan of the current V8 model, we’ll have to see if the V6 model can live up to the pedigree set by the current AMG.
